Can I setup a dance floor on grass?

Yes, you can setup a dance floor on grass but a subfloor is required as an additional rental to level out the ground. If you have a hard flat surface like a deck or concrete patio, you won’t require the subfloor. Please be mindful of weather that could cause damage to our rental items.

Can I expect my rental items to appear brand new?

While we take great care to maintain on our rental products, it is important to remember that these are used items in used condition. Some discoloration or wear should be expected.

Do I need to make an appointment to come into the showroom?

During the week, we are well-staffed with multiple consultants to assist you, so appointments Monday to Friday aren’t necessary. On Saturdays, however, we appreciate appointments since we only staff as required. We recommend calling ahead so that we can be prepared for the volume and you can get full assistance from the staff on hand.

Do you have a minimum quantity to place a rental order?

We can take any order big or small! The only items for which we set minimum order requirements are our dishes, glassware and flatware (these are rented by the dozen).

When should I start looking to book my rentals?

We recommend placing your order as soon as you know what you need. It’s a good idea to get your order in since items can book up well in advance, especially during busier seasons. Although our selection and inventory are massive, the trendiest stuff sells out every year.

How big of a tent do I need?

The best size of tent for your event is determined by a variety of factors: the number of people attending your event, the size of the tables inside the tent, if you have a stage, etc. Please call us and we can assist you in determining the size of tent that will best suit your needs. We can even supply you with a CAD-drawing of your tent.

Can we install the tents ourselves?

No, it is our policy that we will set up and take down our tents, other than pop-up tents which are easy to set up and weight down yourself.

Do we need a site inspection when booking a tent?

We do recommend a site inspection by one of our qualified tent specialists to ensure you rent the best tent to suit your needs. We will work with you to determine the best location for your tent. PLEASE NOTE: it is the customer’s responsibility to call “Alberta One Call” (1-800-242-3447) no less than five business days prior to the set-up date. Alberta One Call is a free service that locates underground utilities. The customer is responsible for marking septic systems, irrigation lines or other private lines. We are not responsible if a tent spike hits and ruptures unmarked lines.

What is the difference between a frame tent and a pole tent?

A frame tent is a free-standing tent with no interior poles. A pole tent is a tension tent set up with interior centre poles and must be staked into the ground.

When do you install and remove a tent for my event?

Typically, we will install your tent one or two days prior to your event. We will return to pick up your tent the next business day following your event.

What about access to the tent setup site?

We will require motorized access to the site. Most tent installations require us to be able to drive right up to the site due to the size and weight of the tent and equipment.

Will my tent have windows in it or be solid material?

We call the sides of the tents the “tent walls.” Unless otherwise specified, we install half the tent with plain walls and the other half with French window walls. Walls also easily pull back, allowing the beautiful day into your event.

Do we need a permit when booking a tent?

If you are setting up a tent within the City of Calgary city limits, you will need a permit. Please refer to our Permit Requirements for all the details about obtaining your permit.

Do we need to pay a deposit for my tent that I rent from Great Events Rentals?

Yes, when you book your tent, we require a non-refundable 50% deposit to reserve the tent. The balance is due just prior to the set-up date.

Does the price of a tent include delivery and set-up?

Yes, if you are within Calgary’s city limits, the price of your tent includes set-up and takedown. Local delivery is free of charge within our business days and hours. However, if you want your tent delivered and set-up outside of Calgary’s city limits, you will be charged based upon distance. This excludes the 10x10 self install pop-up tent rental.

Can the walls of the tent be moved or removed by me?

Yes, you can adjust the walls by removing them or sliding them to one side by unbuckling them.
